Heba Morayef is the Amnesty International's Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa. Before joining Amnesty International she has been investigating human rights abuses in Egypt for Human Rights Watch, one of the world's leading non-profit organizations for defending and protecting against human rights violations. She also produces reports, news releases and op-eds based on her findings and conducts local and international advocacy.

Symposia Iranica is the largest area studies conference within Middle Eastern studies for early career scholars in Europe and the fifth largest in Iranian studies overall. Established as the first postgrad and early career scholar-focused forum in the field, we bring together both groups to celebrate, encourage and stimulate their interest and engagement with Iranian studies alongside circa 30 senior academics, and seek to deliver a rounded, academically and professionally enriching experience that will have a real impact on the thinking, output and career progression of our participants.

The conference committee welcomes proposals that engage with any aspect of Iranian studies within the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The conference is open to postgraduate students and postdocs who graduated in the last three years. Deadline for receipt of abstracts is 13 January.
