Biography
Before his PhD at SOAS, Joshua studied Modern History and IR in Oxford, Berlin and Paris. He also worked on peace and security issues for Saferworld, the EU Delegation in Yemen, and the OECD.
Research description
Joshua's research, which is supported by the Economics and Social Research Council, focuses on dynamics of state formation and transformation during the civil war in North Yemen from 1962-1970. He has a particular interest in Yemen, conflict studies and ethnographic and political economy approaches to the state ‘from below’.
