Biography
I was born and raised in Iranian Kurdistan. After completing my MA in English literature at Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran in 2008, I received a scholarship from the University of Exeter for my PhD project in Kurdish Studies. I have taught Persian and Kurdish languages at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter 2009-2013. 2014-2015 I worked as a lecturer at Soran University in Iraqi Kurdistan and was also the director of Kurdistan centre for Gender Studies.
Research description
I have written my doctoral dissertation on the modernisation of Kurdish poetry and have examined the process of the poetic change from the late 19th century to 1940s. I am currently working on my book manuscript based on my PhD research.
