Associate Professorship in the History and Politics of Iran

Salary: Within the range £48,114 to £64,605 p.a. plus College benefits including a housing allowance of £2,550 p.a.

We invite applicants with expertise in the modern history and politics of Iran, and a strong, broad background in Iranian studies. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise at the undergraduate and graduate level, contribute to administration and examining, and act as a College Adviser for graduate students. The post will be held in conjunction with a Governing Body Fellowship at St Antony's College, and the post-holder will be a Fellow of the College's Middle East Centre. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the administration and activities of the Centre.
Studentship: Transnational Solidarity in the Global Cold War: Egyptian-South African Relations
SOAS University of London; Birkbeck College, University of London; and the Arab and African Research Center (AARC) in Egypt

Applications are invited for a fully funded three-year CHASE doctoral studentship. The studentship will support interdisciplinary (Politics and History) research examining the dynamics and dilemmas of transnational solidarity as exemplified in Egypt's role as sponsor of South African liberation movements during the 1960s. This will be one of the first studies of its kind, contributing to scholarship on the Cold War, Afro-Asian decolonisation, and African liberation struggles’ contemporary legacies.
