We will consider applicants with an active research agenda in all areas of theoretically-informed social research, but are especially keen on scholars working on research with a focus on Gender in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region/global South. Within this area, we encourage applications from candidates with scholarship that complements our program’s strengths in migration, economic development, poverty, health, inequality, and demography.

Northwestern University School of Education and Social Policy (SESP), in conjunction with the Middle East and North African Studies Program (MENA), is seeking exceptional candidates for a post-doctoral fellow with broad interests at the intersections of history, Iranian studies, and education research. The fellow will be based in Evanston, Illinois and will work under the supervision of Professor Sepehr Vakil on a Spencer Foundation-funded project examining the cultural and political history of an engineering university in pre-revolutionary Iran.
