Nominees for BRISMES Council (2026-2029)
Hanaa Almoaibed
Hanaa Almoaibed is running for a second term on BRISMES Council, where she has led the Prize Committee for the past two years. In this role, she has overseen three of the Society’s key awards - the BRISMES Conference Student Paper Prize, the Leigh Douglas Memorial Prize, and the BRISMES Early Career Development Scholarship - all of which aim to support BRISMES’ student and early career members. She is keen to build on this work by strengthening engagement with early career scholars and contributing to the development of new BRISMES prizes.
Working between academia and policy, her research focuses on youth and women's employment, career transitions, and education policy in Saudi Arabia and the GCC. She will be joining the University of Washington's School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences as a visiting fellow in July 2026, in addition to her roles as Visiting Fellow at the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, Associate Fellow at Chatham House, and Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council. She holds a PhD from UCL's Institute of Education.
