BRISMES Fund for Higher Education in Gaza Supports 68 University Students
Thanks to the generosity and fundraising efforts of BRISMES members, UCU branches and the academic community more broadly, the ISNAD programme has delivered meaningful support to university students in Gaza at a time of acute need. The ISNAD Programme is a flagship higher education initiative led by Taawon (Welfare Association) to safeguard access to university education in the Gaza Strip amid unprecedented destruction and economic collapse. A recent completion report shows that funding provided by BRISMES enabled 68 students at the Islamic University of Gaza to have their tuition fees covered for a full semester.
This support has had a direct and tangible impact: 38 students were able to graduate and access their degrees, while a further 30 continued their studies, preventing disruption to their education. In a context where financial hardship and damage to university infrastructure have placed education at serious risk, this assistance has been vital in keeping students on track.
Contributions have not only supported individual students but also helped sustain the wider higher education sector in Gaza and preserve opportunities for the future. This is a clear example of how the BRISMES community’s efforts are making an impact.
