Call for Volunteers: BRISMES Communications Committee
We are pleased to invite nominations for two elected positions on the BRISMES Communications Committee. Set up in 2020, the Committee oversees and assists in the production of social media content, short interviews with academics and Conference delegates, website postings and the BRISMES newsletter so as to increase the visibility of BRISMES and encourage interest and study of the MENA region and its culture in line with the Society’s charitable aims.
New members of the committee will help BRISMES manage and produce content for its social media accounts. We are particularly interested in graduate and early career members with experience of using social media in a professional environment and who are passionate about Middle East Studies and content creation.
The ideal skills and qualifications needed are:
- Social media savvy: confident using different platforms (e.g. X, Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn and YouTube) and able to come up with creative ways to engage with a wide variety of followers and potential members
- Basic video and image editing for social media posts
- Commitment and interest in the role
- Willing to spend around an hour per week managing social media platforms
- Interest in helping BRISMES raise our online profile, highlight the benefits of BRISMES membership and attract more members
If you are interested in joining the committee, please send a one paragraph bio including relevant experience for or particular interest in the role and a photo to office@brismes.org by 18 January 2026.
If more than two nominations are received, BRISMES will carry out online elections for these positions.
