Job Opportunity | BRISMES Conference Assistant
BRISMES seeks a part-time Conference Assistant to provide administration for the 2026 BRISMES Annual Conference, which will take place at SOAS University of London from 23 to 25 June. This job offers the opportunity to organise the largest and most prestigious annual UK gathering of scholars and practitioners focused on the Middle East region. This is a part-time, paid position requiring between 8 and 20 hours a week depending on the period in the conference organising cycle and is offered on a temporary basis (15 April-25 June 2026).
The role involves assisting with creating the conference schedule, liaising with delegates, publishers and the host institution, coordinating volunteers and helping with the event logistics before and during the conference. In addition to allowing you to hone your organisational and event-planning skills, this position gives an invaluable insight into the inner workings of academic conferences. Please note that priority will be given to candidates who are students or alumni of SOAS University of London.
