Mohammad Hamza Iftikhar 

Dr Mohammad Hamza Iftikhar is an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Political Science at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Prior to joining LUMS, Dr Iftikhar was based in Atlanta, Georgia (USA), where he completed his PhD in Political Science at Georgia State University. While in Atlanta, Dr Iftikhar also taught political science undergraduate and graduate students at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Morehouse College, and Georgia State University. Dr Iftikhar specialises in international relations and comparative politics, with a regional focus on the Middle East and North Africa. His research explores personalist authoritarian regimes and examines why certain leaders are able to hold on to power longer than others. One of the primary case studies Dr Iftikhar deep dives in is that of Muammar Qaddafi in Libya. Two of his articles on Libya have also been published in peer-reviewed journals. Beyond academia, Dr Iftikhar also has extensive research and policy experience in the government, NGO, and think tank sectors.
